Caietul cu traduceri (CLXXXV) – Bram Stoker

Continuăm seria traducerilor din opera irlandezului care nu a călătorit niciodată în Europa de Est, dar a devenit aproape la fel de celebru ca personajul său, Dracula; citatul, inclus de curând în dicţionarul de traduceri personale, a fost publicat şi în Enciclopedia online de citate. Bram StokerGura, cât se putea vedea sub mustaţa groasă, avea un aer crud şi dinţi deosebit de albi şi de ascuţiţi, ieşind peste buzele a căror roşeaţă neobişnuită vădea o vitalitate uimitoare pentru un bărbat de vârsta lui. În rest, avea urechile palide, cu vârfuri extrem de ascuţite, bărbia largă şi puternică, obrajii fermi. Totul era de o paloare extraordinară.

Originalul (ENG): The mouth, so far as I could see it under the heavy moustache, was fixed and rather cruel-looking, with peculiarly sharp white teeth. These protruded over the lips, whose remarkable ruddiness showed astonishing vitality in a man of his years. For the rest, his ears were pale, and at the tops extremely pointed. The chin was broad and strong, and the cheeks firm though thin. The general effect was one of extraordinary pallor.
